Our family name, VIOLA, comes from a Latin name for this beauty of many gardens, one very fragrant flower – violet. The old myth says that this lovely spring flower, usedto be related to the gods from of the Olympia as a Greek symbol of the fruitfulness and fertility. For Christians this flower was a symbol of the strength and faith, used for the early morning face wash and favored by many famous personae…

The name of this lovely village ŠILO, is a frequent metaphor about the soil, the horn spreading into the sea. “ŠILO” is the name of a sharp tool used for the piercing. Šiloalso means the peak, the horn. Who knows, the name might come from the beautiful horn protecting the bay, or even the metaphor for the progress our village has made in its tourism history…

By road:
- OWN MEANS OF TRANSPORT: - OWN MEANS OF TRANSPORT: Depending on the direction of arrival;take the motorway to Rijeka (or the vicinity), then you can expect approximately 35 km of highway in the direction of KRK and after crossing the bridge, you have to drive around 20 km following the road signs ŠILO.
After the arrival to Šilo (the road sign indicates the entrance to the village), turn RIGHT into THE FIRST STREET (Jesenovica) and after 220 m, you’ll arrive to the destination, situated on the LEFT (entrance to the fenced garden - parking).
- PUBLIC TRANSPORT :Take the direct scheduled bus line that departs from RIjeka and/or use the scheduled bus lines from Rijeka to Šilo, changing the bus in MALINSKA (island of Krk)

By train:
The nearest rail station is RIJEKA, 45 km from Šilo, the arrival troŠilo is to be combined by road transport

Air transport:
Rijeka Airport - OMIŠALJ, located on the island of Krk, 20 km away from Šilo

Sea transport:
Scheduled boat connections from Crikvenica, (35 km from Rijeka), 2.5 miles from Šilo
